Kids' Fall Classes
(Semester will run: September 12th 2026–November 3rd 2026)

Our Kids Farsi Program is designed to introduce young learners to the Farsi language in a fun, engaging, and developmentally appropriate way. Whether children are growing up in a Farsi-speaking home or are completely new to the language, this course builds confidence step by step through interactive learning.

Classes combine letter recognition, pronunciation practice, early reading skills, vocabulary building, and simple sentence formation. Lessons are thoughtfully structured while remaining playful and dynamic, incorporating visuals, repetition, games, storytelling, and guided activities to help children stay engaged and retain what they learn.

Our goal is not just memorization, but meaningful connection and helping children feel proud of their language skills and comfortable using Farsi both at home and beyond.

ONLINE GOOGLE MEETS CLASSES

Whether you are a native speaker looking to strengthen your foundations or a complete beginner with no prior exposure to the language, this course is designed to introduce Farsi in a clear, structured, and approachable way. Starting from the very basics, students will learn how to read, write, and understand Farsi through a step-by-step exploration of the alphabet, pronunciation, and core grammatical concepts.

Throughout the course, we will cover the full Farsi alphabet in all its forms (beginning, middle, and end of words), alongside essential grammar structures that help decode how the language works. Students will also build a practical vocabulary of common words and phrases, with regular opportunities to practice reading and forming basic sentences used in everyday conversation.

By the end of the 8 weeks, students will be able to confidently identify all Farsi letters in their various forms, read most common words and simple sentences, and understand foundational grammar concepts that make continuing into intermediate-level Farsi a smoother and more intuitive process.

Intermediate Adult Farsi

September 12th - November 3rd
ONLINE GOOGLE MEETS CLASSES

If you already have a basic understanding of Farsi (are familiar with the alphabet and foundational grammar, and can read simple words and sentences) this level is well suited for you. This series of classes focuses on developing stronger sentence structures, improving reading fluency and comprehension, and engaging with short stories and occasional poetry.

Alongside reading practice, essential grammar concepts and language fundamentals are reinforced to help students better understand how sentences are formed and meaning is conveyed. Reading materials, including stories and poetry, are thoughtfully selected and rooted in Afghan culture and themes, offering both linguistic growth and cultural context. English translations are provided to support comprehension and deeper understanding.

This level is designed to strengthen fluency in reading and comprehension, with optional writing exercises available for students who wish to further develop their written skills.

Bridging gaps in the Afghan community through Zaban (language)

About Zaban

When Afghan immigrants or refugees relocate to other countries, the family focuses on learning the language of their new home, and the language which they spoke in Afghanistan becomes faded. When Afghan children of the diaspora grow older, many feel a lack of connection to the older generation of Afghans and to their homeland Afghanistan as well, due to the lack of knowledge of the language. Though they may want to begin to learn or improve their language skills, it is often too late, as resources are scarce, and often intended for younger children.

This later creates barriers for connecting with their families, their culture and traditions, and further isolates them from their community and different Afghan groups. The generational gap and culture gap between the older generation of Afghans versus their children who are part of the Afghan diaspora becomes wider when there is a lack of communication.

Zaban’s mission is to bridge gaps between Afghan immigrant and refugee groups and the Afghan youth in diaspora through creating  a platform which provides the necessary tools and resources to learn Farsi, one of the many languages of Afghanistan.

Through Zaban, Afghan (and non-Afghan) youth can take Farsi classes at various levels, and have access to a collection of resources that can help them learn and improve their Farsi skills.

Zaban's Goals

Empower Youth

To empower young Afghans living abroad to learn and improve their knowledge of the Farsi language in order to reconnect with their culture and roots.

Educational Resources

Build A Community

To create a community for Afghans living outside of Afghanistan and build knowledge together through the power of language.

A Platform For Everyone

To create a platform that provides value and knowledge to those seeking to learn Farsi, regardless of their previous knowledge or skill of the language.
